Atlas MCP is made by AtlasAiDev, a WordPress plugin development company building AI tooling for the world’s most widely used publishing platform — with security, open standards, and genuinely useful free versions.
Our story
AtlasAiDev started with a simple idea: build better experiences with AI, on WordPress. Not AI as a novelty bolted onto a dashboard, but AI that does real work — reading content, drafting it, managing a store, and acting on a site the way a trusted colleague would.
That took us from voice and accessibility, to browser-based machine learning, to augmented reality for product pages. Along the way one problem kept surfacing: AI assistants were getting dramatically more capable, but they had no safe, standard way to reach into a WordPress site. Every integration was bespoke, every permission model improvised.
Atlas MCP is our answer. It turns any WordPress site into a Model Context Protocol server, so assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Cursor can read and manage that site through a permissioned, auditable connection — without a single line of custom integration code.
We are a small team that ships often, answers support ourselves, and publishes everything on WordPress.org first. The free plugin is not a trial that expires; it is the product, and Pro extends its reach.

Four commitments we hold ourselves to
Governed, not trusted blindly
An MCP server hands an AI real write access to your site. So every connection maps to a real WordPress user, inherits that user’s role, runs standard permission checks, and is recorded in an audit trail. You can revoke any client in one click.
Your keys, your server
You bring your own API key for OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic. Nothing is proxied through us, we never see your content, and you are billed by the provider for exactly what you use.
The free version is the product
The free plugin includes the full MCP server, unlimited abilities, OAuth 2.1, role-based access control, and the editor AI tools. Pro extends reach; it does not unlock basic function. If you cancel, the free plugin keeps working with your settings intact.
Build on the standard, not around it
We use the official WordPress Abilities API and MCP Adapter rather than inventing a parallel system, and we integrate with the official WordPress AI plugin instead of competing with it. Standards outlive plugins.

A short history
First release
The plugin launches on WordPress.org with the AI Content Steward module and a handful of abilities.
A real platform
Eleven modules ship — posts, pages, media, users, custom post types, REST tools, settings, and 24 WooCommerce abilities — alongside JWT auth and the workflow builder.
One-click OAuth 2.1
Connecting Claude or ChatGPT stops requiring manual tokens. Paste a URL, approve a consent screen, done — with PKCE, dynamic client registration, and one-click revocation.
Your other plugins become AI tools
Abilities registered by any plugin are picked up automatically and free, and WooCommerce’s own REST API is turned into read-only AI tools — each one graded on how well it describes itself.
Activity log and hardening
A full activity log arrives showing which tool ran, as which user and role, and whether it worked — followed by a security release tightening per-post permissions for every AI tool.
About the name
This plugin has been known as Atlas AI Connector and AI Agent Hub. We are consolidating on Atlas MCP, because what it does is now clear enough to say in three letters.
Nothing changes for existing users: same plugin, same WordPress.org listing, same licences, same server URL. You will simply see older documentation and blog posts using the previous names for a while yet.
